Here are some places to go for useful, clear information on the economy.

Paul Krugman’s column. Krugman is firmly in the academic mainstream—he only has a reputation as a left-winger because our discourse is dominated by right-wingers. His columns are an excellent source of sober analysis; his blog is more technical but full of good info.

Andrew Leonard’s blog is supposedly about globalization, but that’s turned into a mere jumping-off point for all sorts of subjects.

The St. Louis Federal Reserve has a great research page. If you ever need to compare GDP and inflation with output per hour, this is the place.

The Freakonomics blog Thoughts on the economic aspects of everything, in the spirit of the book Freakonomics.
